40,000 Adolescent Girls Benefit From Life Skills Programme in Kaduna

No fewer than 40,000 adolescent girls in Kaduna State have benefited from a structured life skills education programme as the state government moves to expand and institutionalize the initiative across public secondary schools.

The programme, championed by Governor Uba Sani, is aimed at equipping young girls with essential life skills, confidence, and knowledge needed to make informed decisions and navigate social and economic challenges. According to government officials, the initiative focuses on personal development, leadership, health awareness, and educational advancement.

Governor Sani said the move to institutionalize the programme in all public secondary schools reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive education and youth empowerment, particularly for the girl child. He noted that investing in adolescent girls is critical to building a more resilient and prosperous society.

Education stakeholders have described the programme as timely, noting that structured life skills education can help reduce vulnerability among young girls while improving school retention and future opportunities.

With plans underway to integrate the initiative into the state’s education system, the Kaduna State Government says it expects the programme to reach thousands more students and have a lasting impact on girl-child development across the state.
