Amaechi Rejects VP Speculations, Declares Firm Stand on 2027 Presidential Ambition
Former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, has dismissed mounting speculations linking him to a possible vice-presidential ticket with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or any other aspirant ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking while addressing supporters and responding to recent political discussions, Amaechi described such claims as misleading and unfounded, insisting that he is not considering any role other than that of presidential candidate.
According to him, those suggesting he might serve as a running mate are either misinformed or attempting to create political confusion. Amaechi stated that his ambition has been consistent and unambiguous.
“I am running for the presidency. I am not contesting to be anyone’s deputy or vice-presidential candidate. I will not be a running mate to Atiku or anyone else,” he said.
Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State and a two-time Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation in past elections, noted that he has the experience, national reach, and leadership capacity required to contest the highest office in the country.
He added that the 2027 elections present an opportunity for Nigerians to choose leaders who can deliver credible governance, national unity, and economic stability, emphasising that his focus is on offering such leadership.
