Amotekun Arrests Suspected Kidnappers in Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has arrested 12 suspected kidnappers and 83 other criminal suspects across the state in a major security operation.

The arrests were made during coordinated raids and patrols carried out by Amotekun operatives in various parts of Ondo State, as part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping, armed robbery, and other criminal activities. According to the agency, the suspects were apprehended at different locations while allegedly engaging in criminal acts or following actionable intelligence reports from residents.

Speaking on the development, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ondo State said the operation was part of intensified security measures ordered by the state government to ensure the safety of residents and travellers, particularly along major highways and rural communities that have recorded cases of kidnapping in recent times.

Items recovered from the suspects reportedly include weapons, communication devices, and other materials believed to be used for criminal operations. The commander noted that some of the suspects have confessed to their involvement in kidnapping and other crimes, while investigations are ongoing to uncover the full extent of their activities and possible links to larger criminal networks.

The arrested individuals have been handed over to relevant security agencies for further investigation and prosecution, in line with the law.

The Ondo State Government commended the Amotekun Corps for its proactive operations and urged residents to continue providing timely information to security agencies. Authorities also reiterated their commitment to strengthening security architecture and ensuring that criminals have no hiding place in the state.

Amotekun, established by the South-West governors to complement conventional security agencies, has continued to play a significant role in combating crime and maintaining peace across the region.
