Boko Haram Attack Borno Community

Boko Haram Attack Borno Community
Reports from local sources indicate that the assailants stormed the community in the early hours, unleashing violence on residents and travellers along the strategic route linking several parts of southern Borno.
Witnesses said the attackers arrived heavily armed, shooting sporadically and setting parts of the area ablaze, forcing many residents to flee into nearby bushes for safety. The death toll is feared to rise as several others were reportedly injured or still missing after the raid.
Wajirko, located along a major corridor frequently used by commuters and commercial drivers, has remained vulnerable to repeated insurgent assaults despite ongoing military operations in the region.
Security officials are yet to release an official statement, but sources within the local vigilante network confirmed that troops and emergency responders have been deployed to the area to restore calm and assist survivors.

The latest attack underscores the persistent security challenges in Borno State, where Boko Haram and its splinter factions continue to target rural communities, farmlands, and major roads.
Residents have renewed calls for increased military presence and improved surveillance along the Biu–Damboa axis, describing the situation as “terrifying” and urging the government to take stronger measures to protect lives and property.
Borno State has been the epicentre of insurgency in Nigeria’s North-East for over a decade, with thousands killed and millions displaced due to repeated terrorist violence.
Authorities are expected to provide further updates as investigations and rescue operations continue.
