Family Raises Alarm Over Disappearance of Zaria-Based Islamic Scholar
The family of a prominent Zaria-based Islamic scholar, Sheikh Khalifa Sani Abdulkadir, has raised serious concerns over his disappearance, 25 days after he travelled to Abuja, following the alleged blockage of his bank account.
According to the scholar’s wife and children, Sheikh Abdulkadir left Zaria for the nation’s capital to address issues related to his bank account, which was reportedly blocked without prior notice. The family said he informed them that resolving the matter required his physical presence in Abuja. However, shortly after embarking on the trip, all communication with him ceased.
The family described his disappearance as deeply troubling, noting that the cleric is known for maintaining constant contact with his family and associates. They explained that repeated attempts to reach him via phone calls and messages have failed, heightening fears for his safety. His prolonged absence, they added, is completely out of character and has left them emotionally distressed.
Sources close to the family revealed that Sheikh Abdulkadir is a respected Islamic teacher in Zaria, known for his sermons and community engagement. His disappearance has therefore sparked anxiety not only within his household but also among followers and members of the wider Islamic community.
The family has appealed to security agencies, including the police and other relevant authorities, to urgently investigate the matter and help locate the missing scholar. They also called on banking institutions to clarify the circumstances surrounding the alleged blockage of his account, which they believe may be linked to his disappearance.
In addition, the family urged the public to provide any useful information that could assist in tracing Sheikh Abdulkadir’s movements after his arrival in Abuja. They stressed that any detail, no matter how small, could prove vital.
As of the time of filing this report, no official statement has been issued by security agencies regarding the case, while the family continues to hope for his safe return.
