
Federal University Lokoja Appoints Prof. Gbenga Ibileye as Fourth Substantive Vice-Chancellor
The Governing Council of the Federal University, Lokoja (FUL), Kogi State, has approved the appointment of Professor Gbenga Ibileye as the institution’s fourth substantive Vice-Chancellor.
The decision was reached at a meeting of the Council following the completion of the university’s vice-chancellorship selection process, which involved screening, interviews, and consideration of recommendations in line with established guidelines.
Professor Ibileye, a seasoned academic and administrator, is expected to provide strategic leadership aimed at strengthening academic excellence, research development, and institutional stability at the relatively young federal university. His appointment comes at a time when the university is seeking to consolidate its growth, expand its academic programmes, and enhance its national and international profile.
Members of the Governing Council expressed confidence in Professor Ibileye’s capacity to lead the institution, citing his academic pedigree, administrative experience, and vision for university advancement. They also reiterated the Council’s commitment to transparency and merit in the appointment process.
