FG Warns Sponsors of Terrorism, Banditry of Decisive Action — Defence Minister
The Minister of Defence, General Christopher Musa (rtd), has issued a strong warning to Nigerians and other individuals providing support to terrorists, bandits, insurgents, and other criminal elements, urging them to desist immediately or face the full weight of the law.
General Musa stated that the Federal Government has given security agencies a clear and uncompromising mandate to act decisively against all forms of criminality, including those who fund, shelter, or aid violent groups threatening national security.
According to the Defence Minister, insecurity in the country cannot be defeated by military operations alone, stressing that the activities of collaborators and sponsors have continued to fuel terrorism and banditry across several regions. He emphasized that anyone found aiding criminal groups directly or indirectly will be treated as an enemy of the state.
He further assured Nigerians that the Armed Forces and other security agencies are intensifying intelligence-led operations to dismantle criminal networks and cut off their sources of logistics, financing, and local support. The government, he said, is also strengthening inter-agency cooperation to ensure that perpetrators and their sponsors are identified, tracked, and prosecuted.
General Musa called on citizens to support security efforts by providing timely and credible information, noting that public cooperation remains critical to restoring peace and stability nationwide. He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining Nigeria’s territorial integrity.
The warning comes amid renewed security operations across the country, as authorities seek to curb terrorism, insurgency, and banditry that have continued to pose serious challenges to national development and public safety.
