Fubara Is APC Leader in Rivers, Not Wike — Bwala

President Bola Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala, has declared that Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, is the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, not former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Bwala made the assertion while speaking on the evolving political dynamics in Rivers State, noting that political leadership is determined by current power structure and alignment, not past influence. According to him, Governor Fubara’s position as the sitting governor places him at the center of political authority in the state.

“Leadership in politics is not sentimental; it is contextual,” Bwala said. “The sitting governor naturally becomes the political leader. In Rivers today, that person is Governor Siminalayi Fubara, not Nyesom Wike.”

He explained that while Wike remains a significant political figure nationally, particularly within the Tinubu-led administration, his influence within Rivers State politics has shifted following Fubara’s consolidation of power and growing alliances.

Bwala also pointed out that President Tinubu’s administration recognizes political realities on the ground and engages with leaders who command current structures and loyalty. He stressed that governance and party leadership must align with present authority rather than historical dominance.

The statement comes amid ongoing political tensions in Rivers State, marked by divisions between camps loyal to Fubara and those aligned with Wike. The rift has continued to shape legislative and party activities in the state.

Political analysts say Bwala’s comments may further redefine the balance of power within Rivers APC and influence future alignments ahead of upcoming political contests.

As reactions continue, the Rivers political landscape remains fluid, with stakeholders closely watching how the relationship between Fubara, Wike, and the ruling party at the federal level will evolve.
