Full Profile Of Nicholas Ukachukwu, APC Candidate For Anambra 2025 Governorship Election

He is widely styled as Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, sometimes with the additional appellation “Ikukuoma”.

He describes himself as an investor, industrialist and economic developer, with investments and factories located (or formerly located) in Anambra State (Awka, Nkpor, Onitsha) and elsewhere in Nigeria.

He asserts that insecurity negatively affected his earlier factories for example, he says six expatriate staff were kidnapped, forcing some shutdowns and that he is now rebuilding through hospitality industry among other ventures.

He participated in party politics previously and was described as a “political godfather” turning aspiring candidate. He said:

He appears to have donated funds to his party’s organ (at least earlier in his aspirant phase) as part of his bidding to be the APC candidate.

On April 6, 2025, Nicholas Ukachukwu clinched the APC governorship ticket for Anambra State. He polled 1,455 votes; his closest rival, Valentine Ozigbo, had 67 votes.

He announced his running mate as Uche Ekwunife.

He launched a ward-based campaign strategy in June 2025: organising campaign teams at the ward level, committing to grassroots mobilisation and direct engagement of residents.

He has emphasised the need for Anambra State to “connect with the centre” (i.e., the federal government) and thereby benefit from federal resources.

He pledged to leave “no community behind”  all 179 communities in Anambra State would benefit (if elected).

He also vowed to probe killings and insecurity under the current administration and promised accountability, including disbanding or reforming the controversial Special Anti‑Touting Squad Agency (SASA).

Ukachukwu’s campaign revolves around a few core pillars:

Industrialization & economic growth: He proposes to move away from “monumental wastes” to investments that directly impact lives. He plans to establish a power plant and foster industrial clusters across the state.

Security and protection of lives/property: Given his experience of business losses through insecurity, he emphasises safety, reduction of kidnapping, killings and mass protection of citizens.

Inclusive development: no community left behind: Emphasising that all localities will be involved, and development won’t just be for the urban centres.

Agriculture & grassroots empowerment: Through his ward-based campaign he also speaks of supporting farmers, distributing loans, and food sufficiency.

Linkage to federal resources & bridging the “centre state” gap: He argues Anambra is lagging because it’s disconnected from the federal centre; he promises to remedy that.

His business/industrial background may appeal to voters looking for an outsider-manager rather than purely career politician.

The emphasis on security and inclusive community development touches on persistent issues in Anambra: kidnapping, market insecurity, youth unemployment.

His ward-based campaign strategy indicates a focus on ground-level mobilisation rather than only high-profile campaigning.

His alignment with the APC and appeal to bringing Anambra closer to the federal government could attract voters who believe in alignment for resource access.

Despite his business background, there appears to be limited publicly available detailed record of his earlier enterprises (especially their current status), which could open him to criticisms of “talking big” but lacking delivery.

The APC historically has been weaker in Anambra State compared with some other parties (e.g., the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA) meaning structural party weakness may hamper his campaign. For example, commentators claim:

APC doesn’t exist in Anambra State” — a chieftain of APGA stated.

Some of his promises are ambitious (e.g., industrial clusters, power plant) in a challenging fiscal environment; delivery risk is high.

Internal party disputes: His primary victory was contested by Valentine Ozigbo who challenged the legitimacy of the process.

His running mate is Uche Ekwunife. A seasoned politician from Anambra State. Their joint ticket aims to combine business/industrial credentials (Ukachukwu) with political experience (Ekwunife).

Ukachukwu’s objective is to “take Anambra to the centre”, meaning to make the state benefit from the federal government’s programmes, resources and alignment.

He also frames himself as someone who belongs to Anambra and has the stake to govern, contrasting with those he claims “have no stake here”.

In summary, Nicholas Ukachukwu is a business-oriented, industrialist-backed candidate of the APC in Anambra State’s 2025 governorship election. His campaign emphasises industrialization, security, inclusive grassroots development and alignment with the federal centre. He faces structural party challenges and high expectations given his ambitious promises.
