NAFDAC Issues Public Alert on Recall of Mivacron and Nimbex Injection Batches
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued a public warning on the voluntary recall of specific batches of Mivacron Injection 0.2% and Nimbex Injection 2mg/mL.
In a statement released on Tuesday, the agency said the recall was initiated as a precautionary measure to protect public health, following concerns identified in the affected batches. NAFDAC emphasized that the recall applies only to certain batch numbers and not all products bearing the same brand names.
NAFDAC advised healthcare professionals, hospitals, pharmacies, and the general public to immediately stop the use, sale, and distribution of the affected batches and to check their stocks carefully. Facilities in possession of the recalled products have been instructed to quarantine them and contact NAFDAC for further guidance on proper return and disposal procedures.
The agency reassured Nigerians that it is working closely with the manufacturers and relevant stakeholders to ensure that only safe and quality-assured medicines remain in circulation. NAFDAC also encouraged members of the public to report any adverse drug reactions or suspicious pharmaceutical products through its official reporting channels.
NAFDAC reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health and urged Nigerians to remain vigilant when using medical products.
