PDP Demands Withdrawal of Tinubu’s Ambassadorial List Over Integrity Concerns
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately withdraw his recently released ambassadorial nominees list, citing what it described as “serious integrity concerns” surrounding some of the individuals selected.
In a statement issued on Friday, the PDP said the list raised red flags and fell short of the transparency and credibility expected in appointments that represent Nigeria on the global stage. The opposition party alleged that some nominees were linked to unresolved corruption allegations, questionable public service records, and partisan considerations that undermine national interest.

According to the PDP, Nigeria’s diplomatic missions require individuals of “proven character, competence, and global respect,” not persons whose backgrounds could “embarrass the nation or compromise its international standing.”
The party urged the National Assembly to thoroughly scrutinize the list and reject nominees who do not meet the highest standards of ethical conduct. It further accused the Tinubu administration of prioritising political patronage over merit and professionalism in foreign appointments.
The Presidency has yet to respond to the PDP’s demands, while public debate continues to intensify over the quality of Nigeria’s diplomatic representation under the current administration.
