Waldrum Queries NFF Over FIFA Funds for 2023 Women’s World Cup

Former Super Falcons coach demands transparency on how World Cup preparation money was spent.

Waldrum Queries NFF Over FIFA Funds for 2023 Women’s World Cup

Former Super Falcons head coach, Randy Waldrum, has raised fresh concerns over the Nigeria Football Federation’s (NFF) handling of funds released by FIFA for the national team’s preparation ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand.

Waldrum, who led the Super Falcons to an impressive Round of 16 finish at the tournament, questioned the transparency and accountability surrounding the utilisation of the monies FIFA allocated to support the team’s camping, travel logistics, and technical build-up.

According to him, several crucial needs of the team remained unmet despite FIFA’s financial backing, prompting doubts about whether the funds were properly applied.

He expressed disappointment that issues such as delayed preparations, unpaid bonuses, and inadequate support persisted, stressing that these challenges affected the team’s readiness for the global tournament.

Waldrum called on the NFF to give a clear breakdown of how the FIFA funds were spent, noting that openness would help restore trust between the federation, players, fans, and stakeholders in women’s football.

The NFF has yet to issue a formal response to Waldrum’s latest remarks.
