Alex Otti Hails Court Judgment, Says Labour Party Will Regain Peace and Unity

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has welcomed the recent court judgment involving the Labour Party, describing it as a major step toward restoring peace, stability, and unity within the party.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Otti said the judgment reaffirmed the rule of law and offered the Labour Party an opportunity to refocus on its founding ideals of justice, accountability, and people-oriented governance. According to him, the legal clarity provided by the court would help end prolonged internal disputes that have distracted the party from its core mission.

“The decision of the court is a victory for democracy and due process,” Otti said. “It presents the Labour Party with a fresh chance to heal, reconcile, and rebuild internal cohesion. With this judgment, the path is now clearer for peace and unity to return to the party.”

The governor noted that internal conflicts had slowed the party’s momentum since the 2023 general elections, despite the widespread public support it enjoyed across the country. He stressed that unity among stakeholders was essential if the Labour Party was to remain a strong political alternative and meet the expectations of Nigerians who believed in its vision.

Otti called on party leaders, members, and supporters to embrace dialogue and reconciliation, urging all sides to put personal interests aside for the collective good of the party. He emphasized that the Labour Party’s strength lies in its ability to stand together and speak with one voice.

“The focus now should be on strengthening our structures, reconnecting with the people, and preparing to deliver responsible leadership at all levels,” he added.

Political observers say the court ruling could mark a turning point for the Labour Party, which has faced leadership tussles and factional disagreements in recent months. Many party faithful have expressed hope that the judgment will bring an end to internal divisions and allow the party to consolidate its gains ahead of future elections.

As reactions continue to trail the judgment, Otti reiterated his commitment to working with all stakeholders to ensure that the Labour Party emerges stronger, more united, and better positioned to play a meaningful role in Nigeria’s democratic process.
