Super Falcons Return Home With WAFCON Trophy

A heroic Welcome

Nigeria’s senior women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, received a resounding welcome as they returned to the country following their impressive wins at the recently concluded WAFCON 2025 tournament in Morocco.

Hundreds of fans, officials, and well-wishers were on standby to cheer the team at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

The Super Falcons were accompanied by a convoy of security vehicles, cultural dancers and fans waving flags and singing praise songs for them.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris led the reception, ahead of a state event at the Presidential Villa where President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is expected to honour the team with national awards and commendations. #SuperFalcons #WAFCON2025

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, led government officials and was accompanied by the Aviation Minister, Festus Keyamo and other dignitaries in receiving the team at the airport.

In his official X handle he said:

Pleased to witness the arrival of the victorious #MissionX @NGSuper_Falcons at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja. We are very very proud of them, and the coaching crew, for this historic feat! Welcome back home—and congratulations once again to all Nigerians!

A Shocking Match Scenario

To our suprise we never imagined Nigeria could turn things Around after two goals down from at the first half in Morocco’s home soil and home cheering advantages.

Super Falcons bounced back to win the tournament with 2-3 scoreline.

The Moroccan side came out blazing in the first half and established dominance with two quick goals. Nigeria’s attempts to rally in the second half were met with fierce resistance from Morocco’s tight defensive structure and passionate home support, Nigeria Made a super come back by turning the game around. It was really a wonderful game.
