Grammy Award 2026 Winners

South African star Tyla has claimed a major global milestone after winning the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, surpassing top Nigerian music icons in the fiercely contested category.

The fast-rising singer secured the win with her chart-making song “Push 2 Start,” defeating nominations from Burna Boy, Davido, and Ayra Starr, who all made Nigeria proud with strong entries. Other shortlisted works included “With You” by Davido featuring Omah Lay, Burna Boy’s “Love,” Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s “Gimme Dat,” as well as “Hope & Love” by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.

Introduced to celebrate and elevate African sounds globally, the category once again showcased Nigeria’s dominance, with three Nigerian artistes appearing on the final list.

This victory marks Tyla’s second Grammy win in the category. She previously made history in 2024 when she won with her breakout hit “Water,” becoming the first artiste to ever receive the award.

Her latest achievement reinforces Africa’s growing influence on the world music scene and positions Tyla as one of the continent’s most consistent global stars.
