Former governorship aspirant and prominent political figure, Aregbesola has dismissed growing speculations suggesting that he may return to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), insisting that his loyalty remains firmly with the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Aregbesola, while addressing supporters and party stakeholders during a recent political gathering, described reports of a possible reunion with the APC as “false and misleading.” According to him, his decision to align with the ADC was driven by principles, ideology, and a desire to contribute to a more people-focused political movement.
The former minister stated that he remains committed to strengthening the ADC ahead of future elections, adding that the party is gradually building momentum across several states in the country. He emphasized that Nigerians are demanding a fresh political direction capable of addressing insecurity, unemployment, economic hardship, and governance challenges.
Aregbesola also urged his supporters not to be distracted by rumours circulating in political circles, stressing that his current focus is on mobilizing grassroots support for the ADC and expanding the party’s influence nationwide.
Political observers believe the statement may further deepen ongoing realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections, as opposition parties continue efforts to attract influential figures from both the APC and the Peoples Democratic Party.
The development has generated mixed reactions among supporters and political analysts, with many closely monitoring possible alliances and defections that could shape Nigeria’s political landscape in the coming months.
