According to the NDLEA, there are more over 14 million hard drug users in Nigeria.

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) estimates that Nigeria has around 14.3 million heavy drug users.

Sule Momodu, NDLEA’s Zone ‘F’ (Kaduna) Commander, presented this knowledge at a dialogue with pharmacists, military, and paramilitary officers in Kaduna State.

He stated that the growing number of drug users contributes significantly to banditry and other crimes, attributing drug use to the country’s high rate of abductions and kidnappings.

Momodu, on the other hand, underlined the significance of addressing drug-related issues in order for Nigeria to meet its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other developmental objectives.
