Governor Adeleke of Osun state has accuses Oyetola of Using Tinubu’s Influence Against Osun Opposition
Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has accused his predecessor, Gboyega Oyetola, of failing to move on from his defeat in the 2022 governorship election and allegedly using his relationship with President Bola Tinubu to influence political affairs in the state.
Adeleke made the allegations during a governorship town hall meeting at the Aurora Events Centre in Osogbo, where he also defended his public dancing, saying it was simply a hobby and part of his family’s culture.
“They are jealous of me because they cannot dance in the first place. Let me tell you something. In our family, we are jolly good fellows.
“We have music in our blood. And I tell you what, nobody, I repeat, nobody will stop me from dancing. As I’m dancing, I’m working.”
He insisted that dancing had not affected his responsibilities, saying, “There’s time for everything. There’s time to dance and there’s time to work.”
Turning to Oyetola, Adeleke said, “Gboyega Oyetola is still suffering from the pain of defeat,” accusing him of leveraging his relationship with Tinubu to create political problems in Osun.
“Gboyega, if you are listening to me, this is democracy. Just because I defeated you, go and sit down. This is democracy. It is what Osun people want.”
Adeleke also alleged that the name of President Tinubu was being used to intimidate opposition supporters and facilitate arrests, including members of the Accord Party.
“You use Mr. President’s name, you are allowing people to be killed, you have arrested Accord members,” he alleged.
He specifically mentioned Accord candidate Alaba Popoola, whom he said was being detained in Abuja, and questioned why opposition supporters were being arrested if his opponents were confident of winning the election.
“If you know that you can win, why are you arresting my people? Why are you using federal might to arrest, to intimidate Osun people?”
Despite the alleged intimidation, Adeleke said his supporters remained determined to vote and exercise their democratic rights.

“And I know they are ready. There’s no amount of intimidation,” he said.
The governor also defended his administration’s performance, urging voters to judge him by his achievements rather than his public dancing.
“The work that I’ve done speaks for itself. Come this Saturday, I’ll be victorious,” he said.
“So, dancing is a hobby. That doesn’t disturb and affect my work. Go and fact-check it, you will know how much I’ve done.”
Adeleke, who defeated Oyetola in the closely contested 2022 election, maintained that his record in office and the choice of Osun voters—not his personal style—should determine the outcome of the next election.
