Veteran Nigerian singer and actress, Onyeka Onwenu’s children Abraham and Tijani Ogunlende has disclosed cause of death of their beloved mother who died on July 30, 2024, in a Lagos hospital.
Her children, , announced her death, revealing that she was rushed to Reddington Hospital after a performance in Mrs Okoli’s birthday but could not survive it.

They described her as an icon who inspired many with her music, acting, and humanitarian efforts.
The family expressed gratitude to those who supported her in her final moments and to the hospital staff. Onwenu, born in 1952, released her debut album in 1981 and was known for her hit song “One Love.”
