Senator Danladi Sankara, who represented Jigawa North-West in the 7th and 9th Senate, has hailed the verdict of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT), affirming victory of President Bola Tinubu in the February 25, 2023 presidential election.
PEPT had in unanimous judgement delivered in Abuja on Wednesday, struck out all grounds of cases filed against Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) by Atiku Abubakar of PDP, Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), and Allied Peoples Movement (APM).
Reacting to the judgement in a personally signed statement on Wednesday, Senator Sankara said: “It is victory for Democracy.”
He noted that even laymen knew that all the issues canvassed by the opposition to question the election of Tinubu and Shettima were all “pre-election” matters which have been thrashed out by the various courts even before the election.
He said, “All the glory be to Allah for this well-deserved victory of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Senator Kashim Shettima at the election tribunal.
“This development has, as expected, validated their election and this will further strengthen their resolve and capacity as leaders to provide the dividends of democracy to Nigerians.
