President Tinubu Takes Two-Week Break
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to embark on a two-week vacation to the United Kingdom, sparking mixed reactions from Nigerians. According to Bayo Onanuga, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Tinubu will use this time to reflect on his administration’s economic reforms. However, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has criticized the President’s move, citing concerns over the cost of living and the recent announcement of a 30-day National Youth Conference.
HURIWA argues that the conference is a wasteful exercise aimed at distracting youths from Tinubu’s failures. The association urges the government to prioritize addressing pressing issues such as poverty, economic stagnation, and high unemployment .
This development comes on the heels of Tinubu’s recent official visit to China and a brief stay in the UK. Critics have raised concerns about the President’s frequent foreign trips, citing a lack of transparency and accountability
