Sylvester Oromoni Jr., a 12-year-old student at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos State, has been buried, according to his family.
Sylvester passed away on November 30, 2021, following his purported torture at the hands of a few college seniors who claimed to be trying to recruit him into a cult.
“As a family grappling with the profound sorrow brought about by this inexplicable loss, we have chosen to bid farewell to Sylvester on Saturday, January 27, 2024 with final rites to be conducted at Ogbe-Ijaw Warri Kingdom, Delta state,” the family said in a statement that SaharaReporters was able to obtain on Monday.
Sylvester Oromoni Jr., our 12-year-old son, was a student at Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos State. His death was controversially announced exactly two years ago on November 30, 2021, after he was tortured to death by some senior students who wanted to initiate him into a cult group. To this day, our family has not received justice in this matter.
“Sylvester, who was born on December 4, 2009, passed away tragically on November 30, 2021, from wounds sustained during a terrifying attack by fellow classmates.
“Sylvester was well-known for having extraordinary intelligence and maturity for his age before his tragic death. A bright young man with a great deal of promise, he impressed people with his outstanding sense of humor and initiative.
Our son, Sylvester Oromoni Jr., 12, attended Dowen College in Lekki, Lagos State. Exactly two years ago, on November 30, 2021, his death was controversially proclaimed. Some senior students had tortured him to death in order to introduce him into a cult. Our family has not yet been given justice in this case.
“December 4, 2009, saw the birth of Sylvester, who tragically died on November 30, 2021, from injuries he suffered after a horrifying attack by classmates.
Before his untimely demise, Sylvester was renowned for possessing exceptional intelligence and maturity for his age. He was a brilliant young man full of promise who made an impression on everyone with his exceptional sense of humor and initiative.
