Father of Prime Suspect Urges Swift Justice Over Kano Family Killings
The father of the prime suspect arrested in connection with the killing of seven members of a family in the Dorayi Chiranchi area of Kano metropolis has called on authorities to ensure swift justice without delay.
Malam Auwal, the father of the suspect, Umar Auwal, made the appeal following his son’s arrest by security operatives over the tragic incident that has shocked residents of the area and the wider Kano community. He expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and described the incident as heartbreaking and disgraceful.
Speaking to journalists, Malam Auwal distanced himself from the actions of his son, stating that no parent would support or defend such an act. He urged law enforcement agencies and the judicial system to carry out a thorough investigation and apply the law accordingly, regardless of family ties.
“I am deeply pained by what has happened. If my son is found guilty, he should face the full weight of the law. Justice should be done without delay,” he said.
The killings have sparked widespread outrage, with residents of Dorayi Chiranchi calling for improved security and justice for the victims. Many described the incident as one of the most disturbing cases in recent times, urging authorities to ensure that such violence does not go unpunished.
The Kano State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of Umar Auwal and stated that investigations are ongoing. According to police sources, the suspect is currently in custody while detectives work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
