Kwara Assembly Passes Budget, Raises Proposal
The budget figure represents an increase of ₦10.5 billion above the initial proposal presented to the lawmakers by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, following legislative review and adjustments during the appropriation process.
Lawmakers said the upward revision reflects the Assembly’s commitment to strengthening key sectors of governance and ensuring that the financial plan adequately addresses the needs of residents across the state.
The Kwara State House of Assembly has approved the state’s 2026 Appropriation Bill, passing a total budget estimate of ₦656.5 billion for the coming fiscal year.
The appropriation bill, which outlines projected revenues and expenditures for 2026, is expected to support critical development priorities including infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, and social welfare programmes.
With the passage of the bill, Kwara State is set to begin implementation of its financial roadmap for 2026, pending assent by the governor.
The Assembly reaffirmed its role in promoting transparency, accountability, and effective allocation of public resources in line with the state’s development agenda.
