Egbetokun Describes Police Leadership as Highest Career Privilege

The immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has described his opportunity to lead the Nigeria Police Force as the greatest honour of his professional career.

Egbetokun made the remark while reflecting on his tenure as the head of the nation’s police institution, noting that serving as Inspector-General gave him the rare privilege of contributing directly to national security and policing reforms.

According to him, leading the Nigeria Police Force came with enormous responsibility, but it also offered a meaningful chance to strengthen law enforcement operations and improve public trust in the police.

The former police chief expressed gratitude for the support he received from officers, government authorities and Nigerians during his time in office. He noted that their cooperation played a vital role in carrying out reforms and addressing security challenges across the country.

Egbetokun further stated that the experience of overseeing one of Africa’s largest police institutions remains a defining moment in his career, adding that he remains committed to supporting initiatives that will improve policing and security in Nigeria.
