Delta State Government Approved Billions to Build Police Station

The Delta State Government has approved the sum of N34 billion for the construction of police divisional headquarters across the 25 local government areas of the state in a move aimed at strengthening security and improving law enforcement operations.

The approval was granted during a meeting of the State Executive Council, where officials emphasised the need to improve security infrastructure across the state to support effective policing and ensure the safety of residents.

According to the government, the project will involve the construction of standard police divisional headquarters in each of the 25 local government areas. The facilities are expected to provide modern operational spaces for officers of the Nigeria Police Force, including offices, administrative units, and other essential security infrastructure.

Officials noted that the initiative is part of the state government’s broader strategy to strengthen the capacity of security agencies and enhance their ability to respond swiftly to security challenges at the community level.

They added that improved police facilities would also boost the morale of officers and provide a better working environment for personnel tasked with maintaining law and order.

The government further explained that strengthening security remains a critical priority, especially as the state continues to experience economic growth and increased commercial activities.

Authorities believe that better security infrastructure will encourage investment, support businesses, and create a safer environment for residents across the state.

Stakeholders have welcomed the development, describing it as a positive step toward improving public safety and ensuring that communities across the state have stronger access to security services.

The project is expected to be implemented in phases, with contractors to be mobilised to project sites after the completion of necessary planning and administrative processes.
