The campaign convoy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has reportedly come under attack in Calabar, Cross River State.
Ester Umoh, a media aide to Obi, raised the alarm in a social media post on Wednesday, alleging that suspected thugs were attempting to attack the convoy.
“Thugs are trying to attack our convoy,” she said.
The reported incident occurred shortly after Obi arrived in Calabar alongside his wife, Margaret, and his running mate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, for a town hall meeting.
The development comes nearly two months after Obi’s convoy reportedly encountered a similar incident in Benue State, where suspected thugs blocked Boko Road near the Air Force Base in an attempt to prevent the former Anambra State governor from accessing the area.
Details surrounding the reported Calabar incident, including the extent of the disruption, were not immediately clear.
