BREAKING: New CJN confirmed by Senate

Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun from Lagos State, who has been in acting capacity as the Chief Justice of The Nation, has been confirmed by the Senate as the substantial Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN). This is after her nomination by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Kekere-Ekun has been the acting CJN since August, after Justice Olukayode Ariwoola’s retirement.

With this confirmation, Kekere-Ekun becomes the second female CJN in Nigeria’s history and the 23rd Chief Justice of the Nation.

President Tinubu had written to the Senate President, Senate’s Godswill Akpabio.

He urged expedited consideration and confirmation, citing his “highest consideration and personal regards.”
