The release of Reverend Father Kingsley Eze and his driver, Uchenna Newman, from captivity in Imo State was first sought by gunmen for N50 million.
The priest was kidnapped close to Orieama Junction as he was working at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Isiala Mbano LGA.
They also hurt a bystander, who was taken to the hospital. According to recent reports, after reaching out to the driver’s wife multiple times, the kidnappers reportedly lowered their ransom demand from N50 million to N10 million.
The most recent correspondence indicates that the ransom sum has decreased to N10 million, suggesting that the hostage discussions are still in progress.
“On Sunday and Monday, they called the driver’s wife and demanded N50 million.
