BUA Chairman Abdul Samad Rabiu Pledges $1.5m Reward for Super Eagles’ AFCON 2025 Triumph
Chairman of BUA Group, Abdul Samad Rabiu, has pledged a total of $1.5 million in cash rewards for Nigeria’s Super Eagles contingent should the team emerge champions of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The pledge, announced as the tournament progresses, is aimed at motivating the national team as they push for continental glory. According to the breakdown, the cash reward will be shared among the players, technical crew, and officials, in recognition of their efforts and commitment to bringing the AFCON trophy back to Nigeria.
Rabiu, one of Africa’s leading industrialists, has been a consistent supporter of sports development in Nigeria, particularly football. His latest gesture adds to a growing list of incentives promised to the Super Eagles by government officials, corporate organizations, and private individuals ahead of the decisive stages of the tournament.
The Super Eagles have impressed fans with strong performances at AFCON 2025, rekindling hopes of lifting the trophy for the first time since 2013. Analysts believe that such financial backing could further boost team morale and sharpen focus as the competition intensifies.
Football stakeholders have praised Rabiu’s intervention, describing it as a demonstration of private sector confidence in Nigerian sports. Many also see it as a call for more corporate leaders to invest in sports as a tool for national unity and youth inspiration.
As the Super Eagles continue their AFCON 2025 campaign, expectations remain high across the country, with millions of Nigerians rallying behind the team in anticipation of a historic triumph and the significant rewards that would follow.
