Morocco to File Petition Against Senegal Over AFCON Final Incident
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (RMFF) has announced plans to file a formal petition with FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF) following incidents that occurred during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final against Senegal.
According to the RMFF, the petition will address Senegal’s decision to withdraw from the pitch in protest after the referee awarded a penalty kick to Morocco. The Moroccan federation also cited the disturbances and actions that accompanied the withdrawal, describing them as unacceptable for a match of such importance.

Morocco is seeking a thorough review of the events by both FIFA and CAF, insisting that the situation disrupted the flow of the final and undermined the integrity of the competition. The federation is calling for appropriate measures to be taken in line with football regulations.
As of the time of this report, Senegal’s football authorities have not issued an official response to Morocco’s decision. CAF and FIFA are also yet to comment on whether disciplinary proceedings will be opened following the complaint.
