Colombia Hails Burna Boy × Shakira’s Daidai Collaboration

The Honorary Consul of Colombia to Nigeria, Mrs. Maricel Cantillo, has praised the collaboration between Nigerian music star Bruno Boy and Colombian singer Shakira on the song Daidai, saying it represents the strengthening cultural and diplomatic relationship between Nigeria and Colombia.

Cantillo made the remarks during the Nigeria Annual Diplomatic Cultural Festival 2026 held in Abuja, where Colombia commenced its flag presentation with the song.

She explained that the selection was intentional, noting that the track, which blends Nigerian and Colombian musical influences, perfectly captured the spirit of unity and cooperation the festival seeks to promote.

“The choice was intentional. Opening with a song that combines Colombian and Nigerian creativity reflected the essence of the occasion,” she stated.

Cantillo added that the moment also showcased the cheerful, hospitable, and energetic nature of Colombians, whose culture and warmth resonate closely with Nigerians.

She revealed that Daidai was originally created for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and was unveiled during the opening ceremony of the tournament in the United States.
