Mr. Ibu Dies Aged 62

John Okafor, also known as Mr. Ibu, was a Nollywood actor. He passed away at the age of 62.

It was stated that on Saturday, March 2, 2024, he died.

The seasoned actor needed financial support after it was announced that he was unwell in October 2023.

However, Okafor’s family revealed in November 2023 that he had had one of his legs amputated in order to preserve his life.

The reason for the amputation was an ankle artery infection that was not discovered in time, as his former manager Emeka Chochoo revealed to KPOMKWEM News in a private conversation in November 2023.

He reportedly died in a hospital, according to reports.

In the meantime, Mr. Ibu’s colleagues and famous people have expressed their condolences on social media for the late Nollywood actor.

Mercy Johnson Okojie wrote, ” It is well… Rest well sir…”

Ruth Kadiri wrote, “Sleep well Papa.”

The National President of Actors Guild of Nigeria, Emeka Rollas, also confirmed the death in an Instagram post,

He wrote, “Sad Day for Actors Guild of Nigeria.

Kate Henshaw lost her mother earlier today and Mr Ibu suffered cardiac arrest according to his manager for 24 years Mr Don Single Nwuzor.

“I announce with deep sense of grief that Mr Ibu didn’t make it.

“May his soul rest in peace.”

This comes 24 hours after another actor, Quadri Oyebamiji, aka Sisi Quadri, kicked the bucket in Osun State.
