Arsenal thrashed Manchester City 3-0 in this year’s Community Shield to claim the first silverware of the 2026/2027 campaign.
The Gunners made a blistering start at the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, South Wales, taking the lead within the opening seconds.
Myles Lewis-Skelly picked out Riccardo Calafiori inside the box, and the Italian kept his composure to slide the ball home after his compatriot, Gianluigi Donnarumma, had committed himself early.
Arsenal doubled their advantage before half-time when Donnarumma failed to hold Kai Havertz’s header, allowing the ball to end up in the net.
The Premier League champions completed the rout after Martin Odegaard dribbled into the area and fired home Arsenal’s third.
Mikel Arteta’s side will begin their title defence against Coventry City on Friday, while Manchester City face Bournemouth.
