Spain capped off a memorable 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign on Sunday night by defeating defending champions Argentina 1-0 after extra time to lift their second world title.
Although the final remained goalless throughout regular time, substitute Ferran Torres struck in the second period of extra time, finishing off a knockdown from Nico Williams to hand La Roja a deserved victory after controlling much of the contest.
The triumph marks Spain’s second FIFA World Cup crown, adding to their historic 2010 success in South Africa. Their dominance at the tournament was further reflected in the individual honours, with Spanish stars claiming most of the major awards.
