Is Rema The New Face Of Afrobeats

Divine Ikubor, better known by her stage name Rema, is an Afrobeats phenomenon who is widely seen as the next big thing in the Nigerian music scene.
Rema has been releasing hits after smashes since he made his breakthrough in 2019 with his breakthrough single, “Dumebi.” His most recent release, “Calm Down,” is the Afrobeats song that has been streamed over one billion times.
Rema is taking the globe by storm. A few days after making history with Calm Down, the longest-charting and most popular African single ever on the US Billboard Hot 100, she was honored to play at the prestigious Ballon D’Or awards.
Only four years into his career, the 23-year-old locked down the renowned O2 Arena in the UK, a 20,000-cap venue. It looks like he’s riding an unstoppable wave of success. The likes of his fellow countrymen Burna Boy and Wizkid needed ten years to do this.
Many people have started to refer to him as the next face of Afrobeats since they think the youthful celebrity is capable of leading the genre.
