A community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Aba in Abia State known as Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community, has raised a Save Our Soul (SOS) alarm against the ravaging Fulani’s herdsmen who have invaded their community with their cattles and destroyed farm land and produce worth millions of Naira.
Several peaceful meetings have been held by the community leadership including the youth , and security with the Fulani’s herdsmen to stop the destruction but all to no avail.
As the destruction continues, the community is calling on all the authorities concerned to come to their aid to avert this looming danger and crisis about to explode as they can no longer fold their arms and watch their farms destroyed, leaving their family in hunger and depression.

The Communique
A Communique issued by the Executives and Members of Akpaa Mbato Youth Council on the Continuous Indiscriminate Grazing and Menace by Fulani Herdsmen and their Cattles in Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community, Obingwa LGA and Surrounding Communities ( Ovom, Ntighuzor, Ibeme, Akirika and Abam).
Raising from the Statutory General Meeting of Akpaa Mbato Youth Council held on Sunday, 7th July, 2024 at Alaoma Secondary Technical School Field by 4:00 pm prompt reviewed the Continuous Indiscriminate Grazing and Menace by Fulani Herdsmen and their Cattles in Our Community Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community, Obingwa LGA), therefore States as follows:
- That the Fulani Herdsmen and their Cattles have *Continuously and Indiscriminately Grazed the Farms of the People of Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community, Obingwa LGA* even after an Official Visit to Our Community by the *State Security Council* led by the *Mayor of Obingwa LGA, DPO Umuobikwa Police Station and Yaro of Hausa Community Abia State* on Thursday, July 4th, 2024.
- That Calls on the Subject matter have gone to the Executive Governor of Abia State, Senator Representing Abia South Senatorial Zone, Member Representing Obingwa/ Osisioma and Ugwunagbo Federal Constituency National Assembly, Member Representing Obingwa East State Constituency Abia State House of Assembly and Miyetti Allah Aba.
- That the Eze-In-Council and Youths of Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community have repeatedly visited the Commander and Men of the Nigeria Army, Military Check Point Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community on the subject matter
- That the Continuous Indiscriminate Grazing and Menace by Fulani Herdsmen and their Cattles have damaged our Farms, thereby rendering the Farmers worthless.
- That Farming is Our major source of sustenance (Occupation), and that the Farms damaged worths Millions of Naira; hence these damages is bound to keep Our people hungry and entire Nation on Shortage of Food.
- At this point of due Consultation and Dialogue;* the Youths, Women and Men of Akpaa Mbato Autonomous Community Obingwa LGA are pained and pray for financial compensation for their Crops which the Fulani Herdsmen and their Cattles damaged.
