The meeting called by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu between Federal Government FG and the Labour Union has ended in deadlock as no final agreement was reached.
The talks on minimum wage was adjourned till next week Thursday.
After a briefing by the coordinating minister of the economy, Wale Edun and NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari, both of them spoke on the state of the economy.
President Tinubu who led the government officials to the meeting urged the labour union to accept the 62 thousand naira minimum wage as the first baby step to resolve this issue. He added that further review can be done if the new minimum wage law is reviewed.

“Why must we adjust wages every five years? Why not two, why not three years? What is a problem today can be eased up tomorrow”. He said
Labour wants 250 thousand naira minimum wage while FG demands for 62 thousand naira.
Labour Union spokesman said the matter remains at 250 and 62 thousand until a final agreement and conclusion is made by both parties.
