Yemi Alade Gives a Performance During The AFCON Kickoff.
Yemi Alade, a Nigerian musician, gave a performance on Saturday during the Africa Cup of Nations opening ceremony.
“Excellent opening ceremony performance from #yemialadee,” said the message that Total Energies AFCON posted along with the video on its official X handle.
The singer stated that she had wanted to play at football ceremonies since 2016, calling it a “dream come true” in a tweet on her X account on Thursday.
“I cannot buttress the importance of prayer and speaking your heart desires into existence,” Yemi Alade wrote.
Since 2016, I had wished to perform at the stadium for football celebrations surrounded by 100’s of dancers and millions of people.
“Every year as plans were being made for the football tournament, a lot of calls were received, but none of them were positive.
“At one point, I felt like my team was pushing them away, but something urged me to let them do their job. I never mentioned this before.
