British heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois produced a dramatic comeback victory

British heavyweight boxer Daniel Dubois produced a dramatic comeback victory over Fabio Wardley on Saturday night to claim the WBO World Heavyweight title in Manchester.

The explosive all-British showdown at the Co-op Live Arena lived up to expectations as both fighters delivered one of the most thrilling heavyweight battles of the year. Wardley stunned fans almost immediately, knocking Dubois down within the opening seconds with a powerful right hand. The champion struck again in the third round, sending Dubois to the canvas for a second time and appearing to take control of the contest.

However, Dubois responded with resilience and relentless pressure. The former IBF champion gradually took over the fight with heavy combinations and brutal body shots that left Wardley visibly exhausted and badly swollen around the face. By the later rounds, Wardley’s right eye was nearly closed and blood poured from his nose as Dubois continued to dominate the exchanges.

Referee Howard Foster eventually stopped the fight at the beginning of the 11th round after deciding Wardley could no longer safely continue. The result handed Wardley the first defeat of his professional career while Dubois became a two-time heavyweight world champion.

Speaking after the fight, Dubois described the bout as “a war” and praised Wardley for his toughness and determination inside the ring. Fans and boxing analysts have already labelled the contest a potential “Fight of the Year” contender because of its intensity, drama, and multiple knockdowns.

The victory now places Dubois back among the biggest names in the heavyweight division, with discussions already growing about possible future fights against rising British contender Moses Itauma or even another world title unification clash.
