Galatasaray have reportedly turned to Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in their bid to sign fellow Nigerian international Ademola Lookman this summer, urging him to use his close relationship with the forward to persuade him to join the Turkish champions.
According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Galatasaray are keen on securing Lookman’s services following his impressive performances for Atlético Madrid. Since completing a €35 million move from Atalanta in January, the 28-year-old has registered five goals and four assists in 24 appearances, playing a key role in Atlético’s run to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals and Copa del Rey final with crucial strikes against Barcelona.
The move, however, is expected to be far from straightforward. Atlético Madrid are reportedly unwilling to part with another key player, especially amid the departures of Antoine Griezmann and ongoing uncertainty surrounding Julián Álvarez and Alexander Sørloth. Lookman’s versatility and consistent output make him an important figure in Diego Simeone’s plans.
Financial considerations also present a major hurdle. Lookman currently earns significantly more than most Galatasaray players, aside from Osimhen, whose €21 million-per-year deal remains exceptional within the club.

Osimhen has developed a strong bond with Galatasaray and its supporters since arriving on loan during the 2024/25 season before sealing a permanent €75 million move last summer. The club hopes his influence could help sway Lookman, who has previously attracted interest from Inter Milan, Fenerbahçe and Galatasaray.
Whether Galatasaray can put together an offer capable of convincing Atlético Madrid to sell remains the biggest challenge in what is shaping up to be a complicated transfer pursuit.
