Anthony Joshua: ‘I’ll Fight Moses Itauma 100%’

British-Nigerian heavyweight boxing star Anthony Joshua has expressed his willingness to face rising prospect Moses Itauma after completing his next two scheduled fights, according to reports.

Speaking with Fight Hub TV, the former two-time world heavyweight champion responded positively when asked if he would consider a future showdown with the unbeaten 21-year-old Itauma, who is widely viewed as one of the division’s brightest talents.

“Let me get these next two fights out of the way, and I would definitely fight Itauma. Absolutely. Why not? There are still plenty of exciting opportunities ahead,” Joshua said,

referring to his planned bouts against Kristian Prenga and Tyson Fury.

Joshua is set to face Albanian heavyweight Kristian Prenga in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on July 25, before a highly anticipated clash with Tyson Fury, expected to take place in November.

If Joshua emerges victorious in both contests, a blockbuster British-Nigerian heavyweight showdown with Itauma could become a realistic possibility in early 2027.

Itauma has rapidly climbed the heavyweight ranks, compiling an impressive 14-0 record. However, despite his dominant performances, questions remain about his endurance and resilience, as none of his professional fights have gone beyond 18 minutes.

Those questions could begin to be answered later this year when the young contender is expected to face Croatian heavyweight Filip Hrgovic in what is likely to be the toughest test of his career so far.

A victory over Hrgovic could pave the way for a world title opportunity, with Frank Sanchez and Murat Gassiev among the fighters reportedly being considered for a potential vacant championship bout.

Joshua’s latest comments have added further intrigue to the heavyweight landscape, raising the prospect of a future all-British-Nigerian clash that would undoubtedly capture global attention.

Promoter Frank Warren is expected to officially announce Itauma’s bout with Hrgovic soon, with August 22 or August 29 currently viewed as the most likely dates for the contest.
