Davido Alleges Akpabio, Dangote Asked Him To Delete Election Tweet

Did he delete it or not?

Singer David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has alleged that Senate President Godswill Akpabio and billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote contacted him during the election period over a social media post.

According to a report by News Central TV on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, Davido claimed that Akpabio attempted to contact the coalition centre after seeing his post on Twitter and also asked him to delete it.

“I heard that Senator Godswill Akpabio was trying to call the coalition center. He also called me to delete the tweet. I refused,” he said.

Davido further alleged that Dangote also contacted him and asked him to take down the post.

“Dangote also called. I said I won’t delete till INEC declares my uncle as winner,” he added.

The allegations have drawn attention to the possible influence of prominent politicians and wealthy individuals in Nigeria’s electoral process, particularly during periods of heightened political tension.

They also highlight the growing role of social media in Nigeria’s politics, with platforms such as Twitter serving as major channels through which citizens, political actors and public figures express opinions and shape conversations around elections.
