Nigeria’s First Lady Condemns Kidnapping of Students in Kebbi and Niger.

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has expressed deep distress over the recent kidnapping of students in Kebbi and Niger States, describing the incidents as “very disheartening” and a painful reminder of the country’s ongoing battle against insecurity.

In a statement on Tuesday, the First Lady lamented the emotional trauma inflicted on the victims, their families, and communities, stressing that no nation can thrive when its children, its most vulnerable are constantly under threat. She emphasized that the abduction of schoolchildren undermines national development and violates the right to education.

Senator Tinubu called for strengthened collaboration between security agencies, state governments, and community leaders to ensure the safe return of the abducted students and prevent future attacks. She noted that education must remain a protected space, urging security operatives to intensify efforts toward securing schools across the country, especially in rural and high-risk areas.

The First Lady also appealed to Nigerians to remain hopeful and united, assuring families of the victims that the Federal Government is committed to resolving the situation. She reaffirmed her support for ongoing rescue operations and initiatives geared toward safeguarding children nationwide.

While commending the resilience of affected communities, she reiterated that the safety of students must be treated as “a national priority,” and urged all stakeholders to work together to end the wave of kidnappings that has plagued parts of northern Nigeria.

As rescue efforts continue, the nation watches closely, hoping for the swift and safe return of all abducted students.
