Despite Cristiano Ronaldo’s goal in extra time, Al Nassr’s team was eliminated on penalties by Al Ain on Monday in the Asian Champions League quarterfinals.
The match ended 4-4 on aggregate, and the 39-year-old Portuguese was the only player for Al Nassr to score in the shootout as his Saudi team lost 3-1 on penalties.
The former Real Madrid and Manchester United forward had a terrible evening after missing a clear three-yard opportunity with the goal open in Riyadh regular time.
Ronaldo forced the quarterfinal to penalties after his team lost 1-0 in the first leg in the United Arab Emirates. He maintained composure to make the penalty kick in the 118th minute.

With his coolly struck spot kick, the hosts won 4-3 for the evening. In the 98th minute, Ayman Yahya was sent off.
To advance Al Ain to the last four of Asia’s premier club competition, the host team, however, was unsuccessful in three of their four shootout attempts.
During the shootout, Al Nassr players like Alex Telles, a former Manchester United player and international defender for Brazil, mispronounced words.
Ulsan and Jeonbuk play in Tuesday’s quarterfinals; the match is an all-Korean draw that is tied at one.
Al Hilal and Al Ittihad, two Saudi teams, play each other as well. Al Hilal leads the series 2-0 after the first leg.
With a 2-1 lead from the first leg, Harry Kewell’s Yokohama F-Marinos take on Shandong Taishan, a Chinese team, on Wednesday.
