CAF verifies Falconets and Flying Eagles for the African Games

The Confederation of African Football has revealed the teams who will compete in the 2024 African Games football competition. The Flying Eagles and Falconets, the men’s and women’s U-20 teams from Nigeria, have secured automatic qualifying slots.

The 13th edition of the African Games, to be held in Ghana in three cities—Accra, Kumasi, and Cape Coast—from March 8 to 23.

The eight CAF U-20 Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinalists, Egypt 2023, as well as the host nation, Ghana, will compete in the men’s football competition.

Benin, Congo, Gambia, Senegal, South Sudan, Tunisia, and Uganda are the other teams.

The 2023 U-20 AFCON took place in Egypt, where Ladan Bosso’s side defeated Tunisia 4-0 in the third-place match. The Flying Eagles placed third overall.

The Falconets qualified for the Games in the women’s competition as well after making it to the fourth round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica in 2022.

The host Ghana, Cameroon, Ethiopia, Morocco, Senegal, Tanzania, and Uganda are the other seven teams that have joined Nigeria.
