NNPC Raises Pump Price Again

NNPC Raises Pump Price Again

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) filling stations have adjusted petrol pump prices nationwide, with motorists in Lagos and Abuja now paying higher rates per litre.

The price increase has sparked concerns among commuters and transport operators, who fear a possible ripple effect on transportation fares and the cost of goods and services across the country.

As of today, the new price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol, has been set at ₦835 per litre in Lagos and ₦839 per litre in Abuja. The latest adjustment reflects ongoing shifts in the downstream petroleum market amid rising distribution and supply costs.

Although NNPC has not yet issued an official statement explaining the reasons behind the new pricing for allowing the price to go up but industry observers note that fluctuations in global oil prices, foreign exchange pressures, and deregulation policies continue to influence fuel costs in Nigeria.

Many Nigerians are expected to feel the impact of the hike immediately, as fuel remains a key driver of economic activity and daily living expenses.

The development comes at a time when citizens are already grappling with inflation and high cost of living, raising fresh calls for measures to cushion the effect on households and businesses.
