Army Rescues Kidnapped Victim, Recovers N8m Ransom in Plateau

Troops of the Nigerian Army have successfully rescued a kidnapped victim and recovered a ransom payment of ₦8 million during a coordinated operation in Plateau State.

According to security sources, the operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the movement of suspected kidnappers within the area. The troops reportedly engaged the criminals, forcing them to abandon their hideout and flee under pressure.

During the raid, the abducted individual was freed unharmed, while the sum of ₦8 million believed to have been paid as ransom was recovered at the scene. Security operatives also seized items linked to the suspects, although details of additional recoveries were not immediately disclosed.

Military authorities described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to curb kidnapping and criminal activities across the region. They reaffirmed their commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to continue providing timely and accurate information to security agencies.

The development comes amid sustained operations by the Nigerian military to tackle insecurity in parts of the country, particularly in areas affected by banditry and abductions.

Residents in the affected community have expressed relief over the rescue, while authorities continue to track down the fleeing suspects involved in the crime.
