Former lawmaker who represented Kogi West Senatorial District, Dino Melaye, has expressed confidence that President Bola Tinubu will leave office after the 2027 general elections.
Melaye made the statement in a post shared on his verified X handle on Wednesday, where he also suggested that events similar to those recently witnessed in Venezuela could happen in Nigeria.
His comment followed reports that a United States firm had indicated interest in examining an alleged drug-trafficking case linked to President Tinubu.
Kpomkwem News reports that US District Judge Beryl Howell on Tuesday granted Donald Trump-appointed attorney Jeanine Pirro an additional four days to release records relating to the alleged drug-trafficking case involving Tinubu.
The development comes months after the United States, in early January 2026, captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife over alleged drug and weapons charges.
Reacting to the development, Melaye wrote: “Home is calling. Work plenty for home. Tinubu must go. Venezuela go happen for Naija.”
His remarks have since generated reactions, particularly amid renewed political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
