Tinubu Appoints Abel Enitan as Head of Civil Service

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abel Olumuyiwa Enitan as the new Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, effective August 27, 2026.

Enitan, who succeeds Didi Esther Walson-Jack following her retirement at the statutory age of 60, is currently the Permanent Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Education and the most senior Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.

Born on December 12, 1966, in Osun State, Enitan holds a B.Sc. in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and an M.Sc. in Public Policy Analysis from Nasarawa State University, Keffi.

He has served as a Permanent Secretary for seven years and seven months, with postings to the Ministry of Police Affairs, Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and the Office of the Vice President before his current role in the Ministry of Education.

President Tinubu commended Walson-Jack for her distinguished service, particularly her contributions to reforms, innovations and improvements in the Civil Service, wishing her a fulfilling life after retirement.

The President charged Enitan to consolidate ongoing reforms, strengthen professionalism and efficiency, and lead a Civil Service that is “professional, merit-driven, accountable, innovative and responsive to Nigerians’ needs and aspirations.”

He also tasked the incoming Head of Service with ensuring that the Civil Service effectively supports the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
